BIOGRAPHY

 HŪG (pronounced HUUG) is the ceramic studio founded by married artists Seya and Taylor Hug, currently residing Los Angeles, California with their cats Pierre and Brandy. The pair founded the eponymous HŪG as a natural extension of their creative pursuits; Seya, an actor, and Taylor an interior designer.

HŪG creates functional ceramics through the use of raw clay in simple forms, marrying glazes with relief carving. Each piece is sculpted entirely by hand, imbued with and informed by the duo's respective stories. Seya spent much of his life in Switzerland and Japan due to his Dad and kickboxing legend Andy Hug while Taylor grew up watching her mechanic Father's metal work in Texas. The resulting work combines Japanese sensibilities with a clear understated style that speaks to the heart.
